NETRI has developed compartmentalization technologies to organize cultures thanks to its microchannels, and electrophysiology technologies to extract data from neurons thanks to its strategic partnership with Axion BioSystems (MEA).

COMPARTMENT & CULTURE.

NeoBento™.

All NETRI''s organs-on-chip devices are in NeoBento™ format. Designed for full compatibility with industry-standard handling systems, imaging platforms, and readout devices, NeoBento™ is in the standard 96-well format and is far more than a simple holder. It is built to simplify manipulation, ensure culture hydration, and enable seamless integration of NETRI's organs-on-chip architectures.

Organizing Cultures.

NETRI's organs-on-chip architectures, embedded within NeoBento™, enables compartmentalization of cell cultures. It features three vertical channels connected by microchannels: two lateral ones for soma growth, separated by a central isolation channel. Neurons grow in one channel and project their neurites into the other, enabling us to replicate physiological structures, such as innervated skin, neuromuscular junction, synaptic interfaces or localized compound applications. It is made out of PDMS that ensures oxygenation and removes the need for pump apparati.

Microchannels Isolation.

The 200 microchannels (3x5 µm cross-section) ensure physical connectivity for neurites while maintaining fluidic isolation between compartments. A compound added to the third channel will not diffuse to first channel, but its biological effects can propagate via the connected neurites. This unique architecture enables NETRI to decouple local exposure from network response—a key to dissecting functional mechanisms.

ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY & MEA.

NeoBento™ MEA.

In partnership with Axion BioSystems, NETRI has integrated a custom array of 768 electrodes into the NeoBento™ MEA format. Each chip includes 48 electrodes (50 µm) precisely placed across the three compartments and the connecting microchannels. This unique layout captures compartment-specific and inter-compartment activity, with enhanced signal resolution inside the microchannels. NeoBento™ MEA is fully compatible with Maestro™ and Axis Navigator via NETRI's proprietary UpLink™ software.

Metrics Extraction.

NETRI’s UpLink™ software transforms raw MEA signals into actionable insights with the Metametric™ Report. Each chip yields:

A dynamic rasterplot, combining activty over time and a direct visualization of each compartment activity, for at-a-glance feedback.

44 average and network metrics across 11 channel combinations.

18 electrode-level metrics, for all 48 individual elelectrode.


This rich data extraction enables deep understadning of neuronal activity and compound effects, bringing unmatched resolution and interpretability to in vitro models.
