NeoBento™ HT Format.

NeoBento™ is the standard format for NeuroFluidics NETRI’s microfluidic chips, available up to 4 QuarterBentos™ (up to 16 chips).
By being in the standard ANSI format, this high-trhoughput format makes NETRI’s microfluidic devices as versatile and easy to handle as a typical 96-well plate without expansive equipments needed.
This format was designed to improve reproducibility and to be compatible with standard equipment (for liquid handling and imaging) and classic readouts (imaging and biochemical readouts).

  • It particular allows:
  • Easy humidification
  • Flexibility and optimization of the experimental planning thanks to its removable QuarterBento™
  • Analyze, drill or fix QuarterBentos™ individually without disrupting the rest of the NeoBento™

NeoBento™ MEA HT Format.

In collaboration with Axion BioSystems , we have developed the NeoBento™ MEA.
NeoBento™ MEA is the standard format of the NeuroFluidics™ MEA line, available up to 4 QuarterBentos™ (up to 16 chips) and 672 electrodes.

  • The NeoBento™ MEA has all the benefits of the NeoBento™ with the addition of MEA compatibility :
  • Standard 96-well microplate format.
  • Versatile container that enables electrophysiological recording of microfluidic experimentation while
  • Compatible with standard equipment (for liquid handling and imaging) and classic readouts (imaging, biochemical, and electrophysiology readouts)

In collaboration with Axion Biosystems we have developed MEA-capable high-throughput compartmentalized microfluidic devices in NeoBento HT format.

  • The fusion of electrophysiology and microfluidics :
  • MEA-capable high-throughput compartmentalized microfluidic devices
  • Cell type electrophysiology activity isolation per compartment
  • Remote stimulation (compound or electrical)
  • Synaptic activity isolation and directionality

This partnership has allowed the creation of a line dedicated to electrophysiology, the NeuroFluidics MEA line and a utility software, UpLink, which runs locally with Axis.

The NeuroFluidics MEA line is composed of 3 products from 3 architectures that all use the same universal Axion MEA layer.

The NeuroFluidics MEA line is recognized by Axis Navigator, UpLink is our utility software to fetch relevant files from an active Axis session, process Axion Metrics and Network Metrics per microfluidic channel and generate an Excel file with the channel-specific metrics in a highly sortable format.

Microchannels recreate anatomical compartmentalization by allowing connection between channels. Due to their micrometric measurements (typically 3µm height and 5µm width), only neurites can grow within the microchannels, leaving the cell bodies within the compartments themselves. Depending on the desired results, the microchannels are available in 2 formats: tunnels and grooves.

  • Microchannels tunnels: for an enhanced fluidic isolation and discontinuous connectivity between compartment. They are rectangular slits engraved within compartments and on the same plan.
  • Microchannels grooves: for an enhanced axonal projection rate and continuous connectivity. They are rectangular slits engraved within the PDMS layer, passing underneath the compartments and on the the lower plane of the compartments.

Membrane technology consists of a solid matrix with defined holes or pores which have diameters ranging from less than 2 nm to more than 20 μm depending on the application (neuron extensions, molecules, proteins etc.). Generally used in cell biology for studying cell migration, cell-cell signaling and cell filtration, in NETRI’s microfluidic chips, they could be used for all these applications coupled with avantages of the microfluidic. Membrane mimic physiological barriers such as blood-brain-barrier

  • Control exchanges and communication between cell populations
  • Use smaller volume
  • Manipulate more easily
  • Multi-compartmentalized and connected barriers
  • Physiological separataion
  • Diffusion of nutrients or molecules

Modular Integration.

Depending on the application, one or two or all of our technologies can be combined in a single chip. The modular integration of our technologies allows the creation of multi-organ or multi-organoid architectures:

  • 3D sensitive skin
  • 3D Toxicology
  • 2D ADME (Absorption, Distribution, Metabolism and Elimination)
  • Impact of a mother's thyroïdal treatment on her foetus' cerebral development
